Ted( Doc) Parker has been a professional carver since 1979 doing many styles of wood and stone carving. Most of his work has been for galleries and the commercial market thru custom furniture builders, as well as stores. Over the last 27 years his expertise has ranged from waterfowl decoys, life-like birds , people caricatures, signs, reproduction vintage hardwood furniture, jewelry scale carvings, miniatures, folk art, and now chainsaw carvings. His chainsaw carved rustic furniture, and sculptures reflect many aspects of his 27 years as a pro in that he still does most of what he did while hand carving but now with a saw. He attended the UW River Falls from 1975-1980 working towards a BFA in art with studio majors in 2 areas. He represents Sugar Pine Woodcarving Supplies of Lebanon OR and has produced many handcarving instructional videos, and has products he invented for carving for sale in their catalog. He has won numerous awards for his endeavors in both hand carving, and chainsaw carving, the latest was Division champion at The Great Lakes Chainsaw carving Championships 2004 competition where he also won the peoples choice award. |
